2020
Cotes Catalanes, France

If you’re in town come taste this!!!
Just fabulous!

10 straight years of 90 Point Plus scores!

One of the most sought-after winemakers of Europe at the moment, Jean-Marc Lafage, delivers a delightful Miraflors Rose. Named after an old estate located in the heart of Domaine Lafage, Mas Miraflors, the Miraflors Rosé is sourced from old vines of Grenache Gris and Noir, some nearing 80 years old, planted near the Mediterranean.  Added to this is some Mourvedre that Jean-Marc planted about 15 years ago.

91 Points! Jeb Dunnuck
"White peach, orange blossom, and white flower notes emerge from the 2020 Miraflors. It's another clean, balanced, beautiful effort with bright acidity and a clean, dry finish."

90 Points! Robert Parker

“The 2020 IGP Cotes Catalanes Miraflors Rose is a blend of 50% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache Gris and 20% Grenache Noir. Light to medium pink and copper-tinged in the glass, it offers up scents of melon and peach, with hints of strawberry as well. Medium-bodied, it's round and silky in the mouth, showing ample concentration and length on the citrus-tinged finish.”

Our Thoughts on this wine.....

Another great vintage for this cuvée.
It has beautiful white peach, orange zest, and salty sea breeze aromas and flavors in its vibrant, crisp profile. It's as pure and vibrant as it gets, a classic, Provençal-style beauty to drink over the coming summer months.

Food Pairings: Sushi, tapas, charcuterie, seafood, fish, paëlla, grilled chicken, ham and cheese pizza, salad... or by itself!

A bit about Domaine Lafage …..

Jean-Marc farms (with some help!) 160 hectares of vines located just south of the capital of French Catalonia, Perpignan. Some of his family’s vineyards are situated a few kilometers from the Mediterranean, while others can be found further inland in the foothills of the Pyrenees or near the village of his birth, Maury. This range of sites allows him to make both refreshing whites, rich, concentrated reds, and fortified wines as well. Benefiting from a warm, dry climate, the estate is farmed organically. They grow primarily Grenache (Blanc, Gris & Noir), Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Marsanne, Roussanne and Chardonnay with a significant proportion of his vines well over 50 years old. The soil, as you near the coast is weathered, alluvial gravel while in the higher elevation sites it is predominantly schist. They harvest by hand and the winemaking is surprisingly uncomplicated with stainlesss steel for the fresher whites but mainly concrete tanks for the reds with a judicious amount of large French oak barrels for aging.
