90 Points! The Wine Enthusiast
"Whiffs of smoked nut and char lend earthen undertones to bright blackberry and cassis in this blend of Grenache (60%), Syrah (30%) and Cinsault (10%). While full-bodied and potent, it's snappy black fruit flavors are refreshingly pert. Best enjoyed now–2024."  ANNA LEE C. IIJIMA

Our Thoughts on this wine.....

Feuille de Garance (Leaf of Garance) is a reference to the place that this bottling holds at the estate. It is their flagship and a nod to the leaf on the grape vine— for without the leaf the plant cannot live. Deep, purple-red in color, with garnet glints, this wine exhibits crushed red fruit aromas and spicy nuances. Bright hints of garrigue red fruit and earth are evident on the nose and lead to a smooth palate with notes of tart cherry, raspberry and spice.
The supple structure makes this Côtes du Rhône very versatile!

A bit about Domaine Rouge Garance.....

Domaine Rouge Garance is situated on the west bank of the Rhône with vineyards among Saint Hilaire d’Ozilhan and Castillon, a small winemaking paradises abundant with Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault grapes. In 1977, Bertrand and Claudie Cortellini settled on the property, initially selling crops to the local village cooperative, but later bottling their own wines in order to share the stellar quality of their terroir. Through the collective efforts of partners and friends, Bertrand and Claudie were able to bring their dream to fruition—cartoonist Enki Bilal designed the estate’s emblem, and close friend, neighbor, and one of France’s most recognizable actors, Jean Louis Trintignant, built the couple a wine cellar. Today Domaine Rouge Garance produces nine wines under Ecocert Organic Certification, remaining true to older vinification practices by working without pesticides and harvesting grapes by hand. Bertrand, Claudie and Jean Louis work passionately to craft wines that achieve subtle freshness, fragrance and sleekness, establishing a name that is a darling among French press and sommeliers and served in the best wine bars in France.
